New Mobile Fundraising App opens channel for UK charities

LONDON, June 1st 2011 – Regular giving specialist Rapidata Services plc, announces the UK general release of a new Mobile Fundraising App – the first branding customisable app for iPhone and Android mobile phones – that provides an easy way for any charity, large or small, to break into mobile giving.  The roll out follows its successful pilot for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day that saw over 3,700 participants download the iPhone app.  The Prince’s Trust is among several UK charities now trialling the app.

The Mobile Fundraising App is the most advanced of its kind, unique in enabling full charity branding and is available at a fraction of the cost and time it takes to create a custom built product.  It is fast and simple to implement for charities wanting to adopt the mobile channel for fundraising; ideal for emergency appeals and event-based fundraising, and allows intelligent tracking and analysis.  The app empowers supporter fundraisers to make solicitations for sponsors via email and through their own social networks.  The app, available from Rapidata, works across major electronic devices based on both Apple and Android platforms and offers the following functionality:

  • full integration with Facebook, Twitter and the iPhone address book,
  • allows supporters to make secure person-to-person donations via credit card and PayPal using the mobile web
  • view background information about the charity and its mission,
  • share details with friends via email, Twitter, and Facebook,
  • monitor the progress of their fundraising efforts,
  • view and post messages on the message board,
  • add dates to calendars and view maps of event locations,
  • intelligent tracking and analysis.

The Mobile Fundraising App was developed by Canadian based digital fundraising leader Artez Interactive, which works with Comic Relief in the UK.  Rapidata and Artez have configured the app for the UK fundraising market, including crucial functionality for Gift Aid.

Rapidata has also optimised its fundraising web page products to enable mobile web access and the incorporation of tracking, reporting and analysis of mobile users.   Clients already using Rapidata’s web technology are being provided with a free update that automatically redirects donors using a smart phone to a mobile optimised donation page.
