Payments Council to keep cheques and cancels 2018 target

The Payments Council announced on 12th July 2011 that cheques will continue for as long as customers need them and the target for possible closure of the cheque clearing in 2018 has been cancelled. The Payments Council Board will continue to focus on security, efficiency and encouraging innovation in all types of payments to ensure customers have options best suited to the 21st century.

New Mobile Fundraising App opens channel for UK charities

LONDON, June 1st 2011 – Regular giving specialist Rapidata Services plc, announces the UK general release of a new Mobile Fundraising App – the first branding customisable app for iPhone and Android mobile phones – that provides an easy way for any charity, large or small, to break into mobile giving.  The roll out follows its successful pilot for Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day that saw over 3,700 participants download the iPhone app.  The Prince’s Trust is among several UK charities now trialling the app.

Bacs Launches a Direct Debit app

Bacs has just launched a new iPhone app called the ‘Direct Debit Control Centre’. The app is designed to help allow users to keep track of their finances. The app allows the user to see the amount of each Direct Debit and the date it’s scheduled to leave their bank account. The automatic reminder feature can be scheduled ahead of a Direct Debit coming out so users can ensure they always have sufficient funds in their bank account.
