Bacs file submissions over the festive holidays
Following on from the Christmas 2012 Processing blog and as December quickly creeps up on us, the Data Admin Team has put together a few things to remember for our Direct Debit Managed Service clients on how to ensure no collections are affected by the festive period.
- We advise that your data is submitted to Rapidata with 10 clear working days’ notice until the first collections are due. Anything under this could result in collections being returned due to insufficient set up time at the payers’ banks.
- There are 3 Bacs non-processing dates (25th, 26th December & 1st January 2013) that should be considered when preparing your data to send to the team. These are non-working days so should not be counted as part of the 10 day set up period. So, if you have collections due on 1st January 2013 for example, the data would need to be with the Data Team by at least 14th December to ensure there is sufficient time to import and submit to Bacs for set up.
- Ensuring the data you send us is correct is vital to the Direct Debit or Direct Credit collections being set up on time, as any problems with the data or format could result in the file being returned to you for corrections. So please take a minute to check there are no sneaky past collection dates or incorrect account details for example before you send it on!
Any collections due on these non-processing dates will be processed on the next working day automatically.
