January 2012 – New change to the Service User Guide & Rules
Bacs has recently sent out a notice informing all Service Users of a change in the Service User’s Guide and Rules to the Direct Debit Scheme. This change takes effect from the 1 January 2012.From January, all Service Users must ensure that their Bacstel-IP related software, associated payment related databases and applications are updated whenever updates are provided by their Bacs approved software solution supplier.
Updated sorting code information from the ISCD (Industry Sorting Code Directory) / EISCD (Extended Industry Sorting Code Directory) is made available to service users by Bacs approved software suppliers on a monthly basis (at the minimum).
With effect from 1 January 2012, service users MUST update ANY databases and applications that use this sorting code information at least monthly to ensure that up to date information is used. Best practice recommends updating this information weekly.
If you use Rapidata’s Direct Debit Management Service and eDirectDebit, you do not have to worry about this change. Rapidata updates this information as soon as it’s available.
