Managing your Direct Debit Indemnity Claims
You may remember from our blog post back in January that BACS have made some changes to their Direct Debit Indemnity Claim (DDICA) rules.
Indemnity Claims are rare, but it is important that you know how to act if one were to be raised against you. They occur when a payer claims a refund with their bank under the Direct Debit Guarantee. They are reimbursed by their bank, who in turn raise an indemnity claim against you as the Service User to reclaim the refund.
BACS have released a great 14 minute video to take you through when and how you can challenge or raise a counter claim in response to an Indemnity Claim. To access the video, please click here.
You will notice that the video begins by describing the indemnity claim report and how to interpret it. At Rapidata under your Direct Debit Managed Service we pull down these reports on a daily basis and provide this information to you in a .csv file. It is important that these, as well as your other reports are monitored, and we would always advise that you get in touch with both Rapidata and your bank to advise of any contact changes.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your Account Manager.
